Mark and Becky Williams to Underwrite Wimberley Players Streaming Rights

The Wimberley Players are pleased to announce as part of their new underwriting program, that Mark and Becky Williams will be underwriting the 2022 season streaming rights for the Wimberley Players theatre. Streaming was introduced in 2020 as an approach to broaden the audience for the Players productions. It became a popular option for those who wanted to see live theatre but were unable to attend in person. An unintended benefit was that streaming allowed friends and family of cast members from across the country and around the world to tune in to the live performances.

The Williamses are active members of the Wimberley community and support the Wimberley Players along with other nonprofit organizations.

“We wanted to let our money do something important for this Wimberley Treasure. We are incredibly fortunate to have live theatre of this caliber in our own city,” says Becky Williams. “Even though Mark and I also volunteer at the theater, we think underwriting is another option for people to support the theatre in addition to donating and volunteering. Not many live theatres made it through the pandemic. This is our way to help ensure that they stay open. It’s also a way for us to say, ‘Well done, Players. Keep up the good work.’ Perhaps it will encourage others to step up to the plate.”

“Benefactors like the Williamses are crucial to the vitality of the theatre,” says Players Development Director Michael August. “This year we offer the opportunity for business owners, the public, and benefactors to underwrite a production, our musical, and other aspects of the productions such as the acquisition rights to perform each work. Ticket prices don’t support the entire cost of producing a season of performances by the organization.” Underwriting can be paid in a single sum or in installments if donors choose.

Underwriters receive visibility among the thousands of patrons, subscribers, and members for their generosity. As a 501(c)(3) organization, contributions may be tax deductible. Sponsorships are acknowledged on the Wimberley Players website, in the playbill, lobby display, publicity materials, and onscreen during the streaming of productions.
