Players'
Dia de los Muertos promises a lively affair
If you’ve always wanted an opportunity to talk the talk
and walk the walk of one of your favorite
actor/actresses that have gone on to that great stage in the sky, you don’t
have to wait any longer. The upcoming Wimberley Players fundraiser, “Dia de
los Muertos Fiesta,” is set for Saturday, November 1 from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m.
at Old Glory Ranch. Guests will enjoy the fabulous dance band Doc and the
Cruisers, a unique gourmet Mexican feast, live and silent auction treasures
and a beautifully decorated venue plus a few surprises along the way.
“Guests can recreate their favorite actor or a role they portrayed by coming
in costume and maybe even providing autographs,” said co-chair Barbara
Alexander. “Those wanting to simply bring some memorabilia or something that
represents their favorite star may do so. Others may just want to enjoy the
atmosphere in fiesta cocktail or evening wear fit for a night at the Oscars.
Just use your creativity and we’ll do the rest.”
Directing the grand production are co-chairs Barbara Alexander and
Suzanne McCord. Both are very excited about the upcoming fundraiser and say
that guests can expect a totally entertaining evening that will wow them
from the time they enter until the evening comes to an end. The Players Dia
de los Muertos Fiesta will share the look and feel of Oaxaca’s celebration
of the same name.
“This
should be one of the best parties the Players have ever put together,” noted
co-chair McCord. “There will be great music for dancing, but also just
watching the band is a show in itself. The upscale Mexican style menu is
truly unique and palette pleasing with a Texas flare and will offer our
guests something beyond the ordinary culinary experience. It will be a
flavorful burst of excitement for their discerning palettes!
Other committee members include Kay Allison, David Bisett, and Gina
McClure with additional assistance is coming from Betty Sue Cooper, Susan
Holt, Linda Hudson, Kellye Lawson, Judy Thompson, and Betty Wright, with
Linda and Sam Young heading up the silent auction.
“We are really grateful to Suzanne McCord and Old Glory Ranch for
underwriting their beautiful venue,” noted Alexander. “The elegant rustic
feel will only enhance the evening we have in store for our guests.”
Invitations will be mailed the first week of October to friends and
members of the Wimberley Players, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Tax
deductible Underwriting and Sponsorship opportunities on various levels are
available. Businesses or individuals may obtain additional information from
any committee or board member.
The public is cordially invited to join in this unique celebration that
supports the Wimberley Players. Reservations are $125 each and can be
made by calling 512-847-1592. Tables for 10 are available for $1,250 for
